Possible with God
It’s encouraging to hear how student’s lives are being changed by Jesus during the Covid restrictions of the fall 2020 term. What seems impossible in the natural is totally possibly with God.
University of Mississippi – Last week we received an email from a student that said, “If I have never truly embraced God, can I still fit in?” One of our interns met with him to invite him to a small group and a Wednesday night house church. After service he told his house church that he’s excited to investigate Christianity with Chi Alpha. Our Chi Alpha is operating with 4 house churches with about 25 students in each group.

Virginia Commonwealth University – We made contact with hundreds of students to let them know we’re available for them using popsicles, water bottles and a smize (that’s a smile with your eyes, a great practice when you’re wearing a mask). Zach came to the table for a popsicle, but came back 10 minutes later with a question, “do you do Bible studies?” Though raised in a non-religious home, he picked up a Bible in the middle of months of isolation and became fascinated by Jesus. He joined a small group, started reading his Bible every day, and then a month later he brought a friend for a conversation and both prayed to open their lives up to Jesus. The campus is mostly closed, sports and events are cancelled, and classes are almost all online, but students are still searching for and finding God!
University of Iowa – We had 147 students in our service, which is by far our largest service, and in the middle of a pandemic none the less! Over 75 new students, and 18 hands raised for salvation. God is good!
University of Massachusetts – Student leader Chandra writes, “Already this semester even with all the restrictions and only online classes, Jesus connected me with 2 new friends in freshmen Jamie and Ellen – awesome young ladies that are hungry to see how faith in Jesus makes a difference. I honestly thought it would be impossible to make new friends this year, but God had this planned all along!”

Hopeless No More “Die to yourself today, and gain true life for eternity,” I heard the pastor say. “Die to myself?” I thought, “what does that even mean?”. The only way I knew how to live was for myself. What did I need? What was best for me? How could I get ahead?...

Jesus Calms the Storm – May 2020 Newsletter
I recently read Mark 6 about Jesus calming the storm.... Jesus was fully aware of the disciples' struggle in the middle of the lake. Actually, he told them to go while he stayed and prayed. I imagine he was praying for his disciples and what would come next. Hebrews...
