Michigan VS Ohio State!
I’ve had the privilege of discipling over 100 missionaries from 32 states as National Chi Alpha’s Support Raising Coach and Trainer. But I’ve yet to experience two couples from rival campuses, in the same training class as the Paynes and the Kuriyamas. It is a joy to work with these new candidate missionaries from University of Michigan and Ohio State University. Go Wolverines! Sorry Buckeyes.., putting that aside, I embrace these guys and their vision for the Lord!
THE MISSION: Ohio State University has about 68,000 students enrolled, and about 6700 are international students. The University of Michigan has about 45,000 students enrolled and about 6700 international students.
Sporting red meet Kenji and Sierra Kuriyama. Standing next to them, in the infamous maize and blue, meet Chris and Julie Payne.
Your support helps me to invest in these couples and several others from the Spring 2019 Candidate Orientation class. I’ll be discipling/coaching each of them on a weekly basis via video calls until they become fully funded. Imagine all that is in the heart of God for these leaders. There is such great potential to reach out to thousands of students and international students with the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Launching More Missionaries
We had a tremendous group of missionaries go through US Missions Spring 2019 Candidate Orientation March 23-29. Including spouses, there were about 40 in the class.
We had a tremendous group of missionaries go through US Missions Spring 2019 Candidate Orientation March 23-29. Including spouses, there were about 40 in the class. About half of the orientation group were Chi Alpha missionaries; the rest were Chaplains, Teen Challenge, Youth Alive, and Church Planters.
I oversee the 20 hours of support raising training during the conference. I especially enjoyed teaching on the scriptures and heart issues. We conclude with a time of sharing and prayer in small groups. It was a powerful time of ministry, hope, and healing.
Throughout the week it was great to hear several awesome testimonies. One Chi Alpha leader told of a student that suffered from horrible migraine headaches. The students in her Bible study prayed for her and she was instantly healed, and they’ve not returned. What an awesome God we serve.
